DESIGNER MAISONETTE IN STUTTGART

A recent assignment for The Wall Street Journal brought me into this playful apartment, whose owners are a designer and an architect - and can't you tell! Creativity jumps at you at every turn, a play with colors, materials, lights and curiosities, not to mention the many art pieces from around the world, that Peter Ippolito and Stefan Gabel have collected. Let's take a tour!

AFRICA IN BERLIN

I am really quite passionate about beautiful, stylish interiors and interior decoration. When I was in Berlin this summer to shoot a travel piece for Virtuoso Life Magazine, the Ackselhaus was my home for a few days.
An apartment-like hideaway right in the Prenzlauer Berg neighborhood, this was my perfect base to shoot the area, to come back to download images, to go back out for the next shoot. Each of their suites and rooms is decorated in a very different style and I had the fun to be in Africa - elegant tents included!

VISITING CHOPARD'S CAROLINE SCHEUFELE

Step inside with me.. and welcome to the beautiful home of Caroline Scheufele, Chopard's co-president and artistic director. Her house sits majestically on a south-facing hill overlooking Lake Geneva.

On assignment for the Financial Times I had the pleasure to shoot some of the interior rooms, Scheufele herself as well as magnificent jewelry from Chopard's Green Carpet collection - the same pair of earrings, in fact, that Cate Blanchett wore during the 2014 Golden Globe awards.

I learned about the sheep room where plenty of 19th-century paintings of sheep are on display and about the red room, which is actually the library and discovered a Marc Chagall leaning on a wall there, waiting to be hung. And I learned that Scheufele's favorite spot in the house is the airy new kitchen with the long dining table from the 17th century and the red & purple velvet chairs surrounding it.

My personal favorite area was the covered terrasse, where little bird cages are hanging from the ceiling - a ceiling painted with a romantic pale leafy motif. The room, open to the rest of the terrasse, is soaked in green, light blue and earth tones and features two large built-in closets with front panels made of glass and displaying delicate dried leaves - each a little piece of art.

COZY IN PARIS

A lovely place to sit down and enjoy a bountiful breakfast.... Perfect butter croissants in a perfectly styled café... The Café de la Paix, a gourmet restaurant, gorgeous, and restored to its original beauty that it had 150 years ago... A peaceful place where everything is impeccable...
