Step inside with me.. and welcome to the beautiful home of Caroline Scheufele, Chopard's co-president and artistic director. Her house sits majestically on a south-facing hill overlooking Lake Geneva.
On assignment for the Financial Times I had the pleasure to shoot some of the interior rooms, Scheufele herself as well as magnificent jewelry from Chopard's Green Carpet collection - the same pair of earrings, in fact, that Cate Blanchett wore during the 2014 Golden Globe awards.
I learned about the sheep room where plenty of 19th-century paintings of sheep are on display and about the red room, which is actually the library and discovered a Marc Chagall leaning on a wall there, waiting to be hung. And I learned that Scheufele's favorite spot in the house is the airy new kitchen with the long dining table from the 17th century and the red & purple velvet chairs surrounding it.
My personal favorite area was the covered terrasse, where little bird cages are hanging from the ceiling - a ceiling painted with a romantic pale leafy motif. The room, open to the rest of the terrasse, is soaked in green, light blue and earth tones and features two large built-in closets with front panels made of glass and displaying delicate dried leaves - each a little piece of art.
