On this day, 20 years ago, I was glued to the TV, my head buzzing with excitement, watching the beginning of the many demonstrations and the so-called "November events" in Prague, that would lead to the fall of Communism in Czechoslovakia. A few days later, I was in the middle of it myself, witnessing undescribable human powers. An entry in my diary reads: Jetzt ist ihnen allen der Kragen geplatzt.

While my parents had experienced the shutdown of their country in 1968, I was there to see its reopening 21 years later. Singers sang and poets talked and Prague was as gentle as velvet while forever changing the course of its history.
